The office is open Monday through Thursday from 8AM to Noon and 1PM to 4PM. We are open Fridays from 8AM to 2PM. Office appointments for children and adults are usually available Monday through Thursday except while Dr. Grossman is in surgery. You can make an appointment by calling (817) 251-6460 or metro (817) 424-5317.
Because Dr. Grossman sets aside the appointment time just for you, it is very important for you to arrive promptly, and for you to call to reschedule any appointment you cannot keep. Please call at least 48 hours in advance so we can use that time to see someone else. If you are late, it puts him behind schedule for all of his other patients.
We ask that you handle minor or chronic illnesses and prescription refill requests during regular office hours. Because Dr. Grossman wants to give you the best possible care, he cannot diagnose or treat you over the phone. For that reason, antibiotics are never refilled without the patient being examined.
If you have an ear, nose or throat emergency, you need to be seen as soon as possible. (These emergencies may include: severe ear pain, heavy bleeding, fever over 101, broken facial bones, serious facial lacerations, sudden total hearing loss or incapacitating dizziness.) Call the office immediately. If you have an emergency before or after office hours, call (817) 571-7129. This is a 24-hour number. The answering service will relay emergency messages to the doctor, and he will return your call.
In a life-threatening ear, nose or throat emergency, go immediately to the emergency room of Baylor Medical Center at Grapevine, Harris Methodist H.E.B in Bedford, or North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills and tell them you are Dr. Grossman's patient.
Feel free to ask what the expected fee for your visit will be. We will also prepare a cost estimate for your surgery. We make every effort to keep down the costs of your medical care. That is why we ask you to pay upon completion of each visit. If we participate in your health plan, we will be happy to file your insurance. Please notify us in advance if you expect us to file with your health plan.
Monthly statements are sent to patients with outstanding balances. Delinquent accounts will be handled seriously, as in any business.
We will verify your insurance before surgery and help you determine if a second opinion or pre-certification is required. We will ask you to pay any remaining deductible and co-insurance amount before surgery. Then we will file for the rest of the fee with your insurance company. (Cosmetic surgery fees must be paid before surgery as they are not paid by insurance.)
You are encouraged to call the office with medical problems and questions during office hours. The office staff has been trained to answer many of your questions. If a staff member cannot help you, she will tell you when to expect the doctor to return your call. When Dr. Grossman is out of town, he calls the office each day, and another qualified doctor is on call to care for you if problems or emergencies arise.
If you have an emergency before or after office hours, call (817) 571-7129. This is a 24-hour number. The answering service will relay emergency calls to the doctor.
Most patients can be treated outside the hospital, and many of Dr. Grossman's surgeries are done in his office-operating suite. But some patients need hospital care. Hospitalizations and hospital surgeries will be scheduled at one of these three hospitals:
- Baylor Medical Center at Grapevine 1650 West College, Grapevine
Tel:(817) 481-1588
- Harris Methodist H.E.B 1600 Hospital Parkway, Bedford
Tel:(817) 685-4000
- North Hills Hospital 4401 Booth Calloway Rd., North Richland Hills
Tel:(817) 255-1000
Most of Dr. Grossman's hospital surgeries can be performed on an outpatient basis. These include tonsillectomies, plastic surgery of the nose, myringotomies (putting tubes in the ears), and sinus surgery. For outpatient surgery, you go to the hospital about an hour before surgery and go home a couple of hours after it is completed. All laboratory tests and admission papers are done in a short visit to the hospital a day or two before surgery.
In addition, most cosmetic surgeries such as facelifts and eyelid tightening are done in the office with local anesthesia and sedation. Since 1989, Dr. Grossman has been using a technique where even liposuction of the body or face can be done this way.
