Facelift

Over time, the long-term effects of gravity, exposure to sun, dry air, and general stress takes its toll on an individual's face and neckline. Jowls can develop under the jawline with folds and fat deposits. Sometimes creases begin to form between the nose and the mouth.
A facelift can considerably reduce these signs of aging by tightening the underlying tissues, and redraping the skin around the neck and face. Facelifts can be done alone, or frequently performed in conjunction with another procedure such as a browlift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping.

Reshaping of the eyelids, ears, nose and chin

Droopy upper eyelids and puffy bags under the eyes can make you look older and more tired than you feel. "Blepharoplasty" or eyelid surgery is the most commonly performed facial plastic surgical procedure. By removing small amounts of excess skin and fat one can transform the eyelid region to a more youthful and refreshed look.

Otoplasty is the procedure performed to improve the protruding ear. Although more commonly performed for children who have reached 5 or 6 years of age, it can also be performed on adults. It is best to wait until the age of 5 or 6 to allow for maximal growth of the ear while minimizing ridicule by the child's peers. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia in children and local anesthesia in adults. Expected recovery time is 1 week, followed by approximately 2 weeks of light activity. Computerized photographic imaging illustrates the potential outcome.

Tumescent liposuction of face and body

Tumescent liposuction - ideal for the neck, face, arms, calves and ankles. Blood loss is reduced during this relatively new form of liposuction surgery.

The Tumescent Technique for liposuction by local anesthesia is a significant improvement in liposuction surgery. It is so effective that liposuction patients no longer need intravenous sedatives, narcotic analgesics, or general anesthesia. Postoperative discomfort is minimized since the local anesthesia remains in the surgically treated areas for approximately 18 hours after surgery. Patients usually require nothing more than plain Tylenol for discomfort after surgery.

Laser Treatments

Removal of moles, warts

A wart is a benign skin growth caused by a virus. They may occur anywhere on the body but are frequently seen on the hands, feet, and face (areas of frequent contact).

Moles are usually harmless. They may contain hairs, stay smooth or become raised or wrinkled. Talk to us about any change in the color or size of a mole, or if itching, pain, bleeding or inflammation develops.

Treatment of facial skin irregularities, wrinkles, cancers and scars

Are your laugh lines no longer amusing? Your crow's-feet something for the birds? Wrinkles - whether they line the sides of your mouth or etch the corners of your eyes - are inevitable signs of aging.

Due to constant sun exposure as you age, your skin gradually loses collagen and elastin, fibrous proteins that keep your skin taut. Your skin over time also thins and loses its plumping layer of fat.

One option is laser resurfacing, a technique that uses a laser to remove the aged or sun-damaged outer layers of skin to allow younger skin to grow in its place.

Laser hair removal

If you've devoted hours to bleaching, shaving, creaming, tweezing and waxing unwanted hair since you were a teenager, you may have reached the point where you want to tear out all of your hair. The desire to remove unwanted hair is one of those urges born of adolescence that usually doesn't diminish with age. In fact, as you get older, you may find that hairs begin to sprout on your chin, ears, back - and elsewhere. For that reason, many people have turned to laser hair removal.

Sclerotherapy (treatment of spider veins)

Spider veins are similar to varicose veins but are a lot smaller and closer to the surface of the skin. They occur when a valve in a vein weakens and blood pools in the vein, causing the vein to swell. Spider veins are usually red or blue in color and resemble a spider web pattern. They occur most often in women and usually appear on the face and the legs.

Injectables

Botox® & Restylane®

Botox Cosmetic® (Botulinum toxin A) injections are used to diminish fine wrinkles between the eyebrows, as well as to lessen the appearance of crow's feet. Botox®, an FDA-approved agent, inhibits the function of the muscles that cause the wrinkles, causing a smoothing of the skin, and elimination of wrinkles in many patients. The injections are not permanent. They usually last about 3 to 4 months, although with repeated treatments, they can sometimes last for 6 months. Botox® treatments can be combined with other modalities such as chemical peels or laser resurfacing to improve results in the region between the eyebrows. For patients with fine wrinkles, results can be seen soon after injection.

Recently FDA approved for use in the United States, Restylane® is an Injectable material like Collagen. Used in Europe and Canada for nearly a decade, it appears that it is both longer lasting than other materials and causes less hypersensitivity reactions. Restylane®, a naturally occurring biodegradable polysaccharide, is a hyaluronic acid produced by fermentation and metabolized by the body. Restylane® is used to smoothen skin in the lower face, particularly around the mouth, cheeks and lips. Restylane® requires no prior skin testing and lasts between 6-12 months.

Lip augmentation

Full and vivacious lips have always been recognized as aesthetically important features. Some of us however, are born with thin, ill-defined lips. But the appearance of our lips is now within our control. For lip augmentation procedure, a piece of tissue is borrowed from somewhere in your body and grafted into one or both lips. Commonly, a biocompatible synthetic material is used for a more permanent result.

People who are endowed with excessively generous lip size can also benefit from lip reduction procedures. Incision is placed inside the mouth and is invisible.
